talk a mind walk with me. .
imagine every month getting to try new foods from companies you may already love or from those you have heard buzz about.
imagine getting home from a super long day of life, to find a large brown + green box in all its mystery glory sitting on your doorstep. now, imagine ripping open the box like a little culinary-obsessed kid on christmas morning!
well, friends, this exists + it’s called degustabox!
degustabox is a food subscription box that delivers 10-15 surprise items all packaged up in a once-a-month box!
now, i have tried a kelly-sized handful of subscription boxes out there -a few for makeup, another just for snacks + even one for my fur child, tyson- but this is the first one i have received with full-sized products.. and as soon as i lifted the paper off the products, my mind began to wander on just how i could use them in recipes for KAK.
this first box had 15 items! products from Vita Coco coconut oil {like, can anyone get enough of that?} to Haribo’s new sour gummy bears {again, can anyone get enough of those!}.
Another one of the great offerings. . the box came with two packages of Orchard Valley nuts – one just cashews + the other a cashew-cranberry mix. instantly i knew that these would be perfect crunch-factor for summer salads.
while i have tried cashews before, Topo Chico water was a new introduction.
Have you tried the stuff? OH MAN! at first glance it looks like a run-of-the-mill sparkling water but it was head-over-heels love at first sip for me. Topo Chico is crazy refreshing + super carbonated, giving that naughty soda-like vibe while delivering zero cals + zero sugar. let’s just say it’s already earned its place as the backbone for my summer cocktails. .
But the full-sized item that really revved my ambitious kitchen engine was the Soy Vay Veri Veri Teriyaki sauce. as soon as i saw the sweet sesame-flecked sauce, i knew it packed enough flavor to do all the work for me. . a perfect choice for a one-pan chicken teriyaki dinner!
lately, i have been really into meals of the one-pan variety.
there’s just something so gratifying about taking veggies that your fridge has to offer, blanketing them in a simple marinade + letting the oven do the work while you kick back + play candy crush enjoy some ‘you’ time.
i am also totally obsessing over one of summer’s greatest offerings – shishito peppers – lately. they’re awesome little peppers that can be eaten seeds + all and are often seen highlighted with an asian flair.. so how perfect to add them to this teriyaki one-pan party!
celebrating fresh summer produce AND a new marinade? #winning!
once your sheet pan comes hot out of the oven, you can serve the charred veggies + succulent chicken over your favorite grain or even tangle it up in some noodles! sounds easy, doesn’t it!
think of degustabox as the subscription box equivalent to the ease of this one-pan chicken teriyaki – the process is super simple + you’re guaranteed a whole lot of flavor!
- 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast
- 1 bunch of asparagus, woody ends discarded + chopped into 1 inch pieces
- 1 cup brussels sprouts, cut off the brown ends of the brussel sprouts + pull off any yellow outer leaves, chop in half
- 1 cup shishito peppers
- ½ medium red onion, cut into 1 inch pieces
- 8oz can of pineapple rings, drained of it's juice
- ½ cup soy vay veri veri teriyaki sauce
- red pepper flakes, to taste
- preheat your oven to 350º
- line a large rimmed baking sheet with foil.
- lay down the vegetables, pineapple + chicken onto the sheet pan.
- pour the desired amount of red pepper flakes + teriyaki sauce over the top. use kitchen tongs to evenly coat the ingredients.
- bake for 20 minutes.
- remove from oven + enjoy hot over your favorite grain or noodle!
serving this dish over rice is a no-brainer but how about as lettuce wraps! chop your chicken + pineapple into bite-size pieces as well + then serve wrapped in butter lettuce leaves!
swapping in + out ingredients is a breeze when it comes to one-pan meals. . use whatever veggies or protein your fridge offers! just remember that everything will be roasting at the same temperature so chop vegetables that take longer to roast -like potatoes- smaller than those that take shorter – like asparagus!
